Web Publications
"PE3D Maya Command Line Render 1.1.0" published application to Highend3D.com
A memory leak in the way Maya handled rendering large files was found causing all available memory to be used and therefore killing the render process. Beyond optimizing files my solution was to render a scene in chunked frames. Every line Maya hit in the batch file released memory and started rendering fresh again. I created an application that allows users to create a batch file with command line renders that could easily be chunked. For example, if you had 300 frames you could render 1-10, then kill the render and start a fresh one at 11-20. Based on feedback by users the option to create a batch file to hold different scenes and cameras was also added. The application has close to 5,000 downloads to date.
